We have been operating since March 2013 and in that time, we’re proud of what we’ve supplied to our customers and those in need:
- 2,323 sofas
- 2,542 beds
- 3,501 fridges/freezers, cookers or washing machines
We now have an extensive customer base and work with 10 different agencies, who refer people to us when they identify a need for furniture and household electrical items to enable them to make a new home and, often, a new start in life.
Items supplied free of charge
Since our foundation we have been able to provide over £64,500 worth of items free of charge to people in exceptional need, whether by supplying them free to people referred to us or who come to our premises, or via a voucher scheme operated in conjunction with the support agencies mentioned above, or through discounts provided at the point of sale to people on income-related benefits.
Saving valuable goods from landfill
Our van has been utilised to make 7,201 individual collections and 4,819 individual deliveries in the time between March 2013 and January 2019.
These collections, along with the items brought to us by people themselves, have potentially saved around 30,000 items from ending up in landfill, with the associated cost-saving to the District Council and the environment of not having to dispose of these items in this way.
Helping people find work
We have received great support from a wide range of volunteers since we began. We offer volunteers roles that provide useful skills training and help them build their self-confidence, and we have been able to help a number of them back into full-time employment.
